Call for the expression of interest to join the Youth Advisory Council for Newcomer Services (YACNS)
We are currently looking for passionate individuals who will bring voices forward of newcomer youth in order to influence policy making and decisions in the areas of economic, cultural and social programs in Winnipeg.
The Immigration Partnership Winnipeg (IPW) is a collaborative partnership between the Social Planning Council of Winnipeg (SPCW) and the Manitoba Association Newcomer Serving Organizations (MANSO) to provide a collaborative framework to facilitate the development and implementation of sustainable local solutions for the successful integration of newcomers to Winnipeg. YACNS will serve as an advocate partner in helping to achieve this mandate.
We are looking for six youth who are active in their own communities and are interested in engaging on social, economic and policy issues that effect successful settlement and integration of newcomer youth and their communities.
The successful applicants must have the following qualifications and/or requirements:
Active in their communities
Supportive of the values of inclusiveness and multi-culturalism
Committed to attending meetings and conferences
17-30 years of age
Interested in working with people from outside of their own communities
Possess public speaking skills or are interested in developing public speaking skills
